Donna Downie Art Centre Covid 19 art competition winners

Congratulations!

Well done to our three winners of the Donna Downie Art Centre Covid 19 art competition.

The Donna Downie Art Centre invited learners from schools supported by the Imibala Trust to draw their interpretation of the Covid 19 pandemic. We had an overwhelming response and so many creative entries. Thank you to everyone who participated! The judges selected winners on their originality and the young artist’s creative interpretation of the disease. Without further ado, the three winners are:

Donna Downie Art Centre Covid 19 art competition winners

In the first place, the winner of R500.
9-year-old Beautricia Herandien.

Beatrice’s drawing depicts a gravely ill woman on her bed. Tissues at hand and ample medicine on the bedside table. You will note by her pose that she is very sick.

In second place, the winner of R300.
13-year-old Othembela Zali.

Othembela’s artwork won for the honesty it portrayed and that she was one of the very few participants that wrote a note of thanks to the Imibala Trust.

In third place, the winner of R200.
12-year-old Nicole Primo.

Nicole’s picture shows a sky full of the coronavirus and on the following page a coffin along with a sad household.

Well done to all our winners!
